Citizen-Led Online Democracy is a new idea. Here's how it works — and what you can do today.
IOD Nations (International Online Democratic Nations) is the world's first citizen-led digital democracy movement. Our founding premise: "If a business no longer requires brick and mortar, does a nation require land and borders?"
We exist to prove that participation, not geography, is what makes a nation real.

Online democracy (also known as e-democracy) uses information and communication technologies—like online platforms, crowdsourcing, and digital voting—to enhance civic participation, transparency, and government accountability. While it removes barriers to entry, it also introduces challenges like digital divides, privacy risks, and disinformation.
It's proven. Taiwan's vTaiwan platform moved government approval from 9% to 70% by putting citizens directly into policy deliberation: open agenda-setting, consensus mapping, and a government feedback loop that closed the gap between voice and action.
Iceland's 2010-2013 crowdsourced constitution shows the other half of the lesson. Citizen participation worked, but ratification infrastructure failed. IOD Nations is built to fix exactly that gap.
Joel Koman, author of The Recipe and the Meritocracy Manifesto, founded IOD Nations on the belief that democracy can be rebuilt from scratch, not just reformed. A global volunteer team drives the movement forward across time zones.

Yes, and that's the design. Citizens can hold membership across multiple cause-based or geographic "nations" simultaneously (climate, sports, art, music, women's advocacy). Every membership multiplies the reach of the others. Borders don't limit you here, causes do.
No. IOD Nations complements existing nations by giving citizens infrastructure real governments currently lack: transparent, continuous, peaceful democratic participation online. We're not asking anyone to leave their country. We're asking them to lead within it, digitally.
